About the event

We hear and talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, and although steps have been made, we still have ways to go. This session will explore a different type of discussion, led by young leaders who experienced what it is to be "outside" the main stream.

Through the We Are America Project, a national student-led project, teachers and students across the country are exploring and expanding definitions of American identity. Together students find connections between the past, the present, and each other as they share stories of self, writing powerful authentic narratives that are published in books for communities to learn from. Learn from student co-founders of the national We Are America project in this interactive workshop exploring history, identity and how we all represent the American canvas in our neighborhoods, communities, and businesses.
